Tin Can Tourists Kick It Period Style

The Tin Can Tourists are probably the happiest campers on the planet. A fraternal organization founded in 1919 and reinvigorated in 1998, this group of vintage trailer owners camp like it’s 1959. They gather annually in Michigan and Florida to share stories and show off their classic vehicles in vintage splendour, often heavily laden with kitsch from the trailer’s period.

I discovered the Tin Can Tourists at a blues festival in Port Sanilac, Michigan, where they allowed the public to tour their comfy diggs. These rigs were so elaborately decorated, at times I thought I was in an exhibit at the Smithsonian.
